9/11 2008 A Somber Dawn
A somber dawn, tranquil and lonely. ( shown on NECN.) You can see the faint pink of the sky, reflected in the water, the hope of the new day. The water was so unbelievably still with the gray cloud in the background and the sun trying to come through. It would seem that because the water is so still, you can see through it under the boat, the reflection of the mooring buoy at the stern. Click the image to expand it for a better look.

Sunlight and Water
Couldn't take my eyes off this when I first looked out the window and saw it. Had to capture it and save, to share with those of you who are in awe of nature's wonders. Be sure to click and expand so you can see the nearly transparent orange leaves and petals.

Get out the Kayak, Put away the jet ski..
Lakes offer the possibility of saving gas, big time. Beach the gas guzzlers. Take out the sailboat, the canoe, the kayak, the rowboat. forget the gas guzzlers. Let's fight back. Let's cut gas consumption. They think we are weak and sulg indulgent and that we'll be on out knees begging for gas a any price. Let's show them we're not. we're tough and we can walk, bicycle, car pool it. The time is now. Car Pool It once a week. Let us know.

What kind of lone visitor is this?
I've never seen just one, usually in flocks. This one announced himself or herself predawn with calling. Wore itself out the rest of the day calling and calling. Swam and then walked on the ice. stayed another day and then was gone. I never saw it in the air, only in the water or on the ice.

April 16-Mostly Open Water
It was 20 again last night so a bit of gray ice is still visable at the south shore. Took this picture just after 7 AM

Salute to Chief Petty Officer Michael Monsoor
We humbly salute Chief Petty Officer Michael Monsoor for his heroic sacrifice in Iraq, throwing himself on a grenade to allow his two fellow Navy Seals to escape.
