RIP-Gentle Giant
Our faithful friend, our gentle giant lost the battle with cancer. He was devoted and uncomplaining to the end.

Town Halls
Used to think Town Halls with our congressmen, were places and opportunities to tell these people who work for us, whose salaries we pay, who fly home at our expense, and whose health care we pay, what we think of them. Yes, they work for us. They are not our superiors. They are supposed to be treated with respect but not to dictate to the American people, not to tell us to keep quiet and sit down if they don't like what we are saying. They work for us. We pay their salaries.

Wild Turkey Tracks in the Snow
Lots of wild turkey tracks. Saw the flock, upon our approach, as it flew up and away with a clattering of their wings.

Heat Wave in NH
Today we're having a heat wave: 25' when we took our afternoon walk. I didn't wear gloves and never felt the cold until after about a half hour I tried to follow Big Dog as he ploughed through the nearly 3 feet of snow. Big mistake. Fell, feet got stuck in the deep snow, had to use my hands to push myself out. Whew! What penetrating cold. How do they do it, these animals? Including the squirrel. And here below is our connection to the outside world. We do appreciate him. He never lets us down.

Heavy Snow in the New Hampshire Woods
Not too cold-6'. Great for chasing sticks but a bit difficuolt finding them when they sink beneath the snow. A beautiful walk in the woods, fingers crossed we don't have a power failure like the nine day outage our house had last month, New Hampshire's worst ice storm. Some people were out longer. Aside from a generator failure with carbon monoxide probems, the young people helped us out so it was still a wonderful world.

Ice Fishing
Big Dog and I walk out to say hello but today with the wind chill, it's way below zero so I think we'll wait until tomorrow because on the wind swept lake it's even colder although big dog doesn't seem to notice. Well stick to the woods and hope the falling branches miss us.

Winter is Here
Under the ever watchful eye of Big dog, the generator is filled with gas to enable us to survive the worst power failure in New Hampshire history, and then the happy return of the repaired snow blower just in time for the expected 12 inch snowfall.
